The Aam Aadmi Party head and Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday challenged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to detain the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi along with other leaders in association with the controversial Rs 3,600 crore AgustaWestland chopper deal.

Kejriwal also questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “silence” on the issue. He said he is not able to understand why the CBI raids have not been conducted against Congress leaders in link with the case.

Kejriwal started a row of tweets on the issue, “I dare BJP 2 arrest Sonia Ji n those coming leaders named in Italy court order n ask them (sic),” Kejriwal tweeted on Thursday evening and went on to questions BJP’s “intentions”.

In another tweet, Kejriwal said “BJP’ll never do it. BJP’S intentions are bad. For five years, BJP will engage in political rhetoric. There is a strong relationship between Congress and BJP”.

The AAP leader also asked whether those named in Italian court order should not be immediately arrested and questioned.

Referring to Robert Vadra, Kejriwal tweeted “Why is the PM silent on Agusta? First, BJP spared Vadra, now protecting entire Congress top brass in Agusta?”

Last year in December, CBI had raided the Kejriwal’s principal secretary Rajendra Kumar’s office in link with an alleged corruption case. Delhi chief minister Kejriwal had then accused the PM Modi of getting CBI help of raiding conducted at Delhi Secretariat.

The controversial deal to purchase VVIP choppers and the alleged bribes paid in grabbing it have started a political storm after an Italian court “cited handwritten references” to Sonia, her political secretary Ahmed Patel and former Indian Air force chief SP Tyagi by a representative in a judgement which found the helicopter company’s chief executive guilty.
