the Moto G4 and the G4 Plus are now receiving the Android 7.0 Nougat update , along with the November Android Security patch in India after Lenovo (the company that owns Motorola Mobility) apparently pulled the OTA from the counters to ensure the Moto Z got their first. To recall, some users of the Moto G4 and the G4 Plus had started getting the update in October. Lenovo then rolled it back, probably to make sure the flagship Moto Z phone was the first to get the new major update.

Now that the Moto Z has started receiving the update , Lenovo has started rolling out the Android Nougat update for the Moto G4 and the Moto G4 Plus phones as well.

In its release note, the company highlights that the new Nougat update will add features like multi-window multitasking, bundled notifications, improved emojis etc to the phones. In addition, the update will bring a few Moto-specific features (Moto action) including a new swipe to shrink the screen option.

As many as 15 Moto phones are eligible for the Nougat update. The G4 and the G4 Plus are, as expected, among the first ones alongside the Moto Z. The company is yet to roll out the update for the Moto Z Play, which is a more affordable version of the modular Moto Z phone.

Surprisingly, the Moto E3 Power, which was launched just several weeks ago, will not be getting the Nougat update.
