Union minister for woman and child welfare, Minister Meneka Gandhi has said that online trolling of women will be considered violence in future.

Speaking on NDTV programme, Gandhi said, “Women have to deal with tremendous viciousness online, Initially, the operators would not come and talk to us and cooperate about giving details.

But now they have come on board.”The minister said that she had already written to the home ministry to come up with a code for online behaviour.
Gandhi said that it was a journalist’s complaint that had brought the problem to light. But they were now excited to the threats that many faced in the cyber world and it would be treated as violence.
Women social media users, particularly journalists, had had to face the onslaught of social media trolls for their criticism of the central government.Gandhi’s proposal comes in a wake of an increase in the online trolling and abuse to women.
