The Narendra Modi government celebrated the two years of BJP-led government in Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur on Thursday. The BJP government conducted a rally, which saw the participation of a number of senior faces of the government and the BJP. The event also served as a platform for BJP leaders to take aim at rivals of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled to be held in 2017.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said the Congress is vanishing fast, it has already been finished in the plains, and remains only in the hilly areas.  Singh added there too, the Congress will soon disappear, the 14 years of vanvaas (exile) have come to an end for the BJP in Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi himself, however, took a softer line on the polls. His speech targeted more on what his government has done over the past two years. “Before we came to power, the newspapers were filled with stories of one scam or the other every day. Big people were caught in these scams. Since we came to power, have there been any scams against the government? Have our opponent even levelled allegations against us?” Modi asked the people present at the rally.

PM Modi also said every move of the BJP government is being watched with eagle eyes and he welcomes that; every second and every rupee of the government should be accountable. PM Modi  also used the platform to announce that the retirement of age of all government doctors  of the Central and state government  would be raised from 60 to 65.

The NDA government is also set to hold a massive celebration in New Delhi by the India Gate on May 29. The event will also feature some of the famous faces from the Bollywood industry.
