Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra slammed Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump for his controversial remark on banning Muslim immigrants from entering the US. Priyanka shared her views about the battle against extremism, which has come up repeatedly in the 2016 presidential race, at the TIME 100 gala on Tuesday in New York. Priyanka’s name has been featured in Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the world alongside Oscar-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio, Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, singer Nicki Minaj and Trump.

In December last year, Trump had stirred a huge controversy by calling for “a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States”. His message came in the wake of a deadly mass shooting in San Bernardino, California, by suspected ISIS friends and the day after President Barack Obama asked the country not to “turn against one another” out of fear. However, his proposal was met with enthusiasm by many of his supporters, who showed their approval via social media as well as at his rally on the night of the claim.

Refuting Trump, Priyanka equivocally placed her dissent and said “I just think you can’t put a ban on anyone. Concluding a type of people is really primitive”. She also added that the fight against terrorism had grown so complex that “you can’t put a face on it anymore”.

After her role of FBI agent Alex Parrish in ‘Quantico’, which is aired on Star World and Star World HD in India, Priyanka bagged a role in ‘Baywatch’ alongside Hollywood A-listers Dwayne Johnson and Zac Efron.
